Laura Petrovich-Cheney
Laura Petrovich-Cheney’s sculptural work transforms salvaged architectural wood into contemporary pieces inspired by the visual language of quilts. Using materials such as siding, cabinet doors, and floorboards, she explores pattern, repetition, geometry, and structure while preserving chipped paint, weathering, nail holes, and other traces of the wood’s past. Her work draws on traditions of quilt making, weaving, and garment construction to explore ideas of history, repair, and creating something new from what has endured.
Petrovich-Cheney is based in Marblehead, Massachusetts, and has exhibited her work nationally.
