Nancy Cloonan
Nancy Cloonan is an abstract painter whose work transforms the quiet details of everyday life into vibrant, layered compositions. Based in Plymouth, MA, she draws inspiration from daily walks through her surroundings, where ordinary encounters become the foundation for her paintings. Dropped objects, shadows, puddles, and surfaces altered by time and weather become shape, pattern and color that Nancy layers into her artwork.
Her process begins with photographing and collecting visual impressions during her walks before allowing those memories to evolve in the studio. Through repeated layers of shape, line, color, transparency, and opacity, each painting develops gradually, with every mark contributing to the final composition.
Nancy earned a BA in Studio Art and has continued her artistic education through numerous creative programs. A dedicated member of the South Shore arts community, Nancy teaches at the North River Art Association.
