Jess Hurley Scott
Jess Hurley Scott’s dimensional paintings explore the beauty of the natural world through light, depth, and movement. Using her own photographs as references, she breaks each image into layers and paints in reverse on multiple acrylic panels, creating a sense of depth that shifts as the viewer moves around the work. Her landscapes and seascapes are especially inspired by water and the changing effects of light on the environment.
Scott earned a BFA in Illustration from Syracuse University and later studied at the Art Students League of New York, where she began experimenting with painting on glass and acrylic. Her work has been exhibited throughout New England, New York, and beyond. Scott has also been awarded two artist residencies at the Pouch Cove Foundation in Newfoundland, Canada. Jess works and lives in Scituate, Massachusetts.
